Reconciliation Liturgy

Fr. Don has scheduled a Reconciliation Liturgy with a visiting priest at 6 PM on Thursday [correction] Wednesday.

As followers of Jesus, we need to examine our lives and recognize our sinful thoughts, words, deeds and omissions so that we can bring them to God for forgiveness.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is the ordinary way to have our sins forgiven. It is through confession that we will grow closer to God and lead a more balanced, Christ-centered lifestyle.

“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1 Jn 1:8)

Easter Egg Hunt

We are planning an Easter Egg Hunt for all the children of the Parish immediately following Easter Sunday morning Mass on April 8th.

There is a sign-up sheet in the back of the church so we can have a head count.

As in the past, candy donations are greatly appreciated and to be placed in the box near the sign-up sheet.

Please contact Cindy Longobardo with questions or to offer help.

Bishop's Letters on Religious Liberty

Here are some short excerpts from letters written by the Most Reverend Robert E. Guglielmone, Bishop of Charleston. Please follow the links for the full text of the letters.

Dated January 30, 2012:

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

I write to you concerning an alarming and serious matter that negatively impacts the Church in the United States directly, and that strikes at the fundamental right to religious liberty for all citizens of any faith.

The full letter is available here:

http://www.catholic-doc.org/bishopguglielmone/downloads/HHS _RULING_PDF_ONE_PAGE.pdf

In a follow up letter, dated February 14, 2012:

No government has the right to intrude into the affairs of the Church, much less coerce, faithful individuals to engage in or cooperate in any way with practices the Church considers immoral.

This federal rule, even in its amended form, is not acceptable.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has much more information on their website:

http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/religious-liberty/conscience-protection/

Cardinal Timothy Dolan, president of the USCCB, sharply criticized the decision by the Obama administration in which it "ordered almost every employer and insurer in the country to provide sterilization and contraceptives, including some abortion-inducing drugs, in their health plans....Never before has the federal government forced individuals and organizations to go out into the marketplace and buy a product that violates their conscience. This shouldn't happen in a land where free exercise of religion ranks first in the Bill of Rights."
